It’s Thursday, and let’s have a good one. There is a lot still going on in the world, and there is a lot to kinda recap. Lets get to what I see as the most important stuff. Trump is going through the appeals court, and one of his court cases is on hold until one big matter is solved – does the President have complete immunity? Is that a lifetime? Hergo does that afford him immunity from prosecution after leaving office? In my opinion, a higher appeals court has been hearing arguments and asking the Trump legal team good questions. One of the judges asked this. Hear her below:
Those words “qualified yes” are rather important. Trump’s legal team has been arguing that his has Presidential immunity to save him in the event of political persecution. But, there lies the problem: your only recourse is an impeachment (a political process) to remove someone who wasn’t upholding the Constitution properly. What’s to stop a President from grabbing twenty Senators and making sure they can’t vote?
I’m not a huge fan of NPR. But lately they’ve been better at just sticking to the crux of stories. They had Kim Wehle, a Constitutional Law Professor at Boston to discuss. Good points were made.
We can’t have a President (no matter who. Biden. Trump. Insert future leader name here) that goes completely unchecked and doesn’t have a basic set of rules they must abide by. Our Constitution was set up with the very ideals of trying to escape a monarchy – a King.
Moving on……
Chicago Bears have the #1 draft pick in the NFL for next season. One of their former players, Jay Cutler, has weighed in on what to do with it. He’s fully on team Justin Fields and wants to keep him, but give him some more offensive weapons.
The Chicago Bears have never been a team with a high-profile quarterback. You could argue maybe Jim McMahon. Are those days changing? I’ve always liked Justin Fields, as he brings running and versatility to the game. His Achilles heel has always been the arm.
Across the way in Chicago. My Chicago Cubs. They landed a Japanese starter. So they’ll have a very good starting lineup. Also, they didn’t put him on a layaway program like the Dodgers 😂
