Good morning. It’s Saturday, January 20th, and let’s get this train rolling. I had some decent practice yesterday for today’s golf tournament. I keep reminding myself that it’s only January, and I haven’t been practicing much. My practice habits tend to take a vacation with the colder weather. One of my friends is playing in his first golf tournament today as a new member. I wish him all the luck today.
I was reminded of my old golf group of Gary, Pete, and Bob, and with them, if they weren’t playing well in the tournament, they’d just pick up on the last hole and DQ themselves. Why you might ask? They didn’t want to feel embarrassed about the score being posted. They thought a DNF or a DQ looked better I guess. To this day, I still don’t get it. Who cares?!?
Sports Illustrated looks like it’s closing its doors. This is a definite sign of the times with the economic model changing. Magazines just don’t sell. Newspapers barely do. As a fan of really good photography, the best were always National Geographic, Victoria’s Secret, and Sports Illustrated. RIP SI!
Some Politics
Let’s get real here, folks. Trump is on his way to the nomination. I try as much as I can to listen to all sources of news. From independent news outlets like ‘Breaking Points’ to ‘The Bulwark’ to Conservative talk radio to CNN and some mainstream voices.
I tell you. Our choices are scary. We need an age limit to be President. Or a cognitive function test. Did you see Trump at his rally where he was talking about January 6th and the lack of security at the event? He was talking about that they offered security to Nancy Palosi. Only problem was he got confused about Nancy and instead thought it was…..video below. No. Nikki Haley wasn’t in charge of security on January 6th.
A good all-around listen was Friday’s Bulwark podcast with Amanda Carpenter. She’s a smart woman and ran Ted Cruz’s Presidential campaign. Long story short, she’s not a fan of Donald because of the danger he presents to democracy. I mean you can look almost anywhere and find the hints at this. Like his comment of ‘We may need to look at pausing the constitution’ WHAT?!?!
