Good morning! Today is January 4th. Let’s kick things off with what I’ve decided to call “Morning Shots.” Think of it as your daily energy boost, much like an espresso—a quick burst of information to energize your day. And yes, I’ll also be taking a few pointed shots at people along the way. On a fun DJ note, you’ll be getting something a bit different. I discovered an exceptional video AI processor capable of analyzing old videos frame by frame and upscaling them to higher resolutions. One of my long-lost favorite songs, “Headlock” by Imogen Heap, was never officially remastered in 4K. I took the initiative to upscale it myself, and the result is shared below. Enjoy!
Karl Rove
Karl took to the WSJ to write a review of 2025, and his pessimism for 2026. I’ll link to the article here. I agree with everything he’s stated, which he puts much more eloquently than I could. I’ll quote the parts below that should be worrisome of Republicans below.
“Has the president convinced himself that he doesn’t need to sell his policies and actions? It appears that he believes he can will people into agreeing with him by claiming his achievements are the biggest, best and most amazing in American history. He’s gone way too far by slapping his name on buildings (the Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts) and government programs (the Navy’s “Trump-class” battleship). He might receive a fawning reaction from his MAGA base, but the average American finds such narcissism off-putting.
Americans would be much more likely to support Mr. Trump if he explained what he’s doing and asked for patience as his administration makes necessary changes. But that isn’t his way. Presidents do best when they underpromise and overdeliver. The opposite—overpromising and underdelivering—angers voters. They often take out their anger at the ballot box.”
This was the issue with the President saying on the campaign that ‘grocery prices will so low’ ‘ukraine war ended on day one. I won’t tell you how I’ll do it because I don’t want to give it away’ ‘I’m serious about healthcare. Every American will have the best in the country’
Then it became about tariffs. Tariffs were presented as a way to secure exceptional deals. During the announcement of these tariffs, the statement was made: “Americans may have to endure some temporary economic pain.” While I understand the concept of reciprocal tariffs, this approach was not executed in that manner. Instead, it targeted every product coming from a specific country. Rather than using a scalpel to carefully address the issue, the approach resembled using a chainsaw—broad and indiscriminate.
NBA
Scottie Pippen recently addressed several issues plaguing the NBA in an interview. One of the primary concerns he highlighted is the unpredictability of marquee players’ participation in games, as players now dictate to coaches how many games they will play. Additionally, Pippen criticized the lack of connection between players and fans. Despite the vast opportunities provided by social media to enhance both personal and team brands, these opportunities are largely being overlooked.
Tomorrow I’ll write about New Years resolutions. Hope you have an excellent Sunday.
