Morning Shots Jan 8. It’s a Big One

Good morning, everyone. Let’s kick off this Thursday morning with our favorite shots—whether it’s energy drinks, espresso, coffee, or maybe a splash of Bailey’s if that’s your style. Whatever fuels you, let’s start the day right with some great music. It seems like a good morning for some Rolling Stones.

Minneapolis Shooting

Yeah I’m really good at burying the lead. No sense holding back on it. Lets start with this. There are virtually no absolutes in this discussion. Many things are true at the same time. So I’ll state the most absolute truths.

The woman who died was at fault. She was acting erratic and not following directives. If she had listened, and even given a slight modest amount of pushback going as far as saying ,”I’ll just park my car off to the side here.” She might very well be alive. But, she was put into a dangerous situation and when you’re in the middle of it every decision you make matters as it puts you and others in serious risk.

The ICE agent acted on instint and fired too quickly. There wasn’t the necessity to escalate to lethal force. We need full body cam footage to understand exactly what he perceived, but based on the video available, it does not appear his life was in immediate danger as the vehicle was moving away from him.

All too quickly tribalism takes over and with the Homeland Security being the staunch defender of ICE and then the President injecting his opinion. Politics takes over. Swaying opinions.

The left is calling this murder.

The right is claiming the woman was trying to kill the agent.

Lets bet honest. Neither narrative is accurate.

Both parties should put an end to the political grandstanding and concentrate on calming the situation. What’s more concerning is that our top officials are so eager to jump into political narratives instead of simply stating that it’s an evolving situation with incomplete facts. Instead, they rush to provide immediate reactions, including one from the President of the United States.

Viciously ran over? Recovering in the hospital? This is him walking afterwards. Doing just fine. No limp. Walking to his car.

Additionally, it undermines the credibility of the administration when conflicting messages are conveyed. If the President advocates for supporting law enforcement, consistency in actions and statements is crucial. Utilizing taxpayer-funded platforms to shift blame onto law enforcement for the events of January 6th contradicts the expressed support and risks eroding public trust in leadership. Cubs

The Cubs traded away their #1 prospect Owne Caissie to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday in Edward Cabrera. Much needed a solid pitcher in their rotation. Now, like what’s on everyone’s mind, the Cubs need a big bat in their lineup.

Now the big question. The Cubs need to sign a big bat. All signs are pointing that it won’t be Kyle Tucker, unless as I’ve said he isn’t seeing teams willing to show him the money for a long term deal. Some names that have been thrown into the mix are Cody Bellinger, and the always popular to talk about but a bit older 3rd basemen for the Red Sox Alex Bregman. Alex would be a good get.

When is Tom Ricketts going to open up his wallet?
