Good morning. It’s Tuesday, May 6th, and after yesterday’s Star Wars-themed blog post, things will be back to normal today. It seems like a good morning for some Pink Floyd.
Glenn Greenwald
I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Breaking Points or if you subscribe to it, but it’s one of my favorite podcasts, and I highly recommend it. The show offers perspectives from the left and the right, featuring various guests to discuss pressing issues. It’s refreshing to hear balanced viewpoints in one place, allowing you to form your own opinions rather than being told what to think or believe in the usual partisan way.
The latest segment features Glenn Greenwald, the journalist/lawyer who unraveled the surveillance systems that Edward Snowden was a part of. He gives his opinions on some of the latest Trump executive orders.
Shelves
An interview with the LA Port Advisor revealed that product volume has dropped by a third compared to last year. The advisor also mentioned that CEOs of major retailers are declining to purchase higher-priced goods due to tariffs, which would either cut into their profits or, more likely, be passed on to customers. Translation is that the shelves are going to look bareer in certain areas.
People often forget that all of this was unnecessary. This ‘Liberation Day’ didn’t need to happen; nothing forced it. The President of the United States chose it. The economic hurt some pre-retirees felt in their 401 (k)’s and retirement accounts was all unnecessary.
Cubs and Kyle Tucker
The Chicago Cubs are on a tear, already matching the record they had when they won the World Series. Let us not get ahead of ourselves and say it will happen again. This year is going to be fun for a Cubs fan to watch. But – after this season – it will be tough to keep together. The big piece is Kyle Tucker, who is the next player rumored to be worth upwards of $600 million.
I hope the Cubs do everything possible to sign a player of his calibre.
Wishing you all the positivity and productivity to make this Tuesday a great one. Thank you, as always, for spending a moment of your day here—it truly means a lot!
