On September 25, 1978, the skies over San Diego were forever marked by tragedy when Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) Flight 182, a Boeing 727, collided with a private Cessna 172. This catastrophic incident claimed the lives of all 135 passengers and crew on board the flight, as well as 7 people on the ground, resulting in one of the deadliest aviation disasters in American history.
The flight was operating a routine scheduled service from Los Angeles to San Diego when it was involved in a mid-air collision with the small aircraft, which had inadvertently entered the same airspace. The tragedy highlighted a critical need for improvements in air traffic control procedures and pilot awareness.
In the aftermath of the accident, the aviation community and regulatory bodies implemented significant changes, focusing on enhancing safety protocols, increasing training for pilots, and refining air traffic control systems. These measures aimed to ensure that such a tragedy would not happen again, reflecting a deeper commitment to prioritizing the safety of both passengers and those living in proximity to airports.
As we remember PSA Flight 182, we honor the lives lost and the loved ones left behind. This somber reflection serves as a reminder of the profound responsibility held by those in the aviation industry, combined with the understanding that behind every flight, there are human stories and dreams. May the memories of the passengers and crew continue to inspire ongoing improvements in aviation safety, ensuring that their legacy endures in a safer sky for all travelers.

I get a lot of questions about how I’m liking the iPhone Pro Max. Peta Pixel did a good review which sums up a lot of it from a photography point of view.
Lastly…..one last thing…..
My friend Jimmy broke 80 in his golf journey with a score of 79. It was well deserved, given his golf practice and dedication. It’s something to be envied.
