Hey, it’s Thursday. DJ. Play that music. Aw yeah, some Pink Floyd. I tried telling you my music tastes are all over the place.
So, Time magazine chose Taylor Swift to be the Person of the Year.
I couldn’t have disagreed more.
It should have been ‘The Year of AI’. Artificial Intelligence, for short. ChatGPT and about a dozen other really good models are great at handling tasks. If you’re unsure what this is, go to https://openai.com/ and take the free model for a test drive. Ask it questions. Ask it to give you a summary of something. Now remember this isn’t designed to be your friend, but a more advanced (far more advanced) version of Siri.
The emergence of artificial intelligence has sparked numerous discussions and raised a plethora of questions regarding its impact on society. As we navigate through this technological landscape, it becomes imperative to establish clear boundaries and ethical guidelines. The forthcoming decade holds tremendous significance as we grapple with the potential implications of AI in various aspects of our lives.
Recently, the popular podcast host, Joe Rogan, delved into a fascinating discourse about AI and its intersection with the concept of sex robots. While this may initially appear unconventional or even humorous, it is undeniably a real and evolving phenomenon. This intersection of technology, artificial intelligence, and human intimacy prompts us to critically evaluate the ethical implications and societal repercussions.
The complexity of this topic necessitates careful consideration and proactive measures to ensure that the integration of AI aligns with ethical standards and preserves human dignity. It is indeed a pivotal moment as we stand at the crossroads of technological advancement and ethical responsibility.
How many of you are familiar with Eric Weinstein?
Eric Weinstein is a prominent American mathematician and economist who currently serves as the managing director at Thiel Capital. With an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, he has made significant contributions to fields such as mathematical physics and social sciences. Beyond his academic and professional endeavors, Weinstein is widely recognized for his role as the founder and host of The Portal, a thought-provoking podcast that delves into a diverse array of topics with leading intellectuals and thought leaders. Through his multifaceted contributions, he has established himself as a respected figure in the realms of finance, academia, and public discourse.
He’s also been on Joe Rogan several times as he’s been linked to the likes of Oppenheimer and Einstein in their contributions to the scientific and mathematical fields. Anyway, He has a good discussion below on AI and how it’s going to displace capitalism and that we need a new economic model to work/support us. His reasoning: We’re going to have jobs displaced by AI.
He also had a good discussion with Joe Rogan on aliens and how they might travel. I know it’s a lot to digest this morning.
Have a good Thursday!
