The 2024 Grammy Awards, LIV Event, Apple’s Vision Pro AR, and More Entertainment and Technology Highlights

Grammy’s were on last night. I try to keep up with trends and what’s the up and-coming music. Mostly, I enjoy all of the music – except rap. It was a night for the ladies, with Taylor Swift winning multiple awards, including Album of the Year. Billie Elish won Best Song for the song that she made for the Barbie Soundtrack. I believe Taylor set some records as no artist has won four albums of the year. Taylor used one of the moments on stage to launch the date and time of her next album. Like it or not, she’s moving the needle. My only knock is to have Taylor Swift win all these awards, yet you don’t have to perform at the event. Cmon.

They tried making a big deal out of Billy Joel returning to the Grammy’s with a new song. I just couldn’t get into the song. It was a blah, not exciting. He claimed it took him thirty years to have something to write finally. Goodness Billy! Thirty years. And this was it?

Miley Cyrus was interesting. Maybe I’m showing my age when I say this. I didn’t need her announcing that she wasn’t wearing underwear. Oh, well 😂

Dua Lipa is an English singer, songwriter, and model who gained international fame with her hit singles “New Rules” and “Don’t Start Now.” Born in London to Albanian parents, she began her music career at a young age and quickly rose to prominence in the pop music scene. It makes sense that they’d have Dua Lipa open the Grammy’s to her song Houdini.

Her performance was one of the best of the night.

Moving on.

PGA Tour and LIV events went on at the same time. The LIV event was a real yawner, and I still don’t care about any of the teams. Jon Rahm had a hot mic moment when he left a chip short. NSFW – below.

On a comical note for me: Phil Mickelson. 2nd to last. Last.

Dan Rapaport, one of the better new-age journalists I’ve followed, had a good take on the LIV golf tournament. Who needs music all the time during the event? Even the NBA does music during time-outs and commercial breaks, but when it comes back to the main product (The players playing the game), they cut it. Why? You don’t want anything to dilute what people came to watch.

Allow me to geek out for a bit. Apple released their Vision Pro AR system.

All the reviews I’ve read are saying this is the future. It’s not perfect, with a lot of flaws, but in three to four iterations, we’ll see a close-to-mature product. The NBA designed an app for it, and it puts you practically courtside. You can watch the game, see stats, all these extras, while not taking away from the actual game. I think we’ll see the NFL, Formula One, Golf, etc all grabbing on this tech to make the viewing experience even better.

Rain. Rain. Rain

We’re due for more rain. Yep. More.

Have a good Monday!
