Good morning. I had a nice little break from the blogosphere, and now I’m back with a zest. DJ, let’s throw some music into the fray. It seems like a good morning for some Eddie Vedder and his song ‘Man of the Hour’
That opening lyric to the song always resonates with me: “Tidal waves don’t beg forgiveness, crashed, and on their way.” It has been a strange week. We lost a member of our family on Friday morning at 4 a.m. She was ninety-seven years old, and it was her time to meet her maker. Death hits me hard in unexpected ways, often triggering memories of my mother’s loss. If I had known that each day was precious, I would have approached things differently. Unfortunately, we can’t see the ticking clock and often take the time we have with loved ones for granted.
Partly why I enjoy our family dinners so much. It makes me enjoy what I couldn’t have. I lost my mother when I was twenty-six. While out walking yesterday, the harsh reality hit home that I’m approaching when I’ll have more time without her than I had with her. Life is fragile, and who knows how much time we have?
I watched my Cubs make a valiant effort against a very good Brewers team. I’m honestly just happy we made it into the postseason. Craig did give a good interview I’ll post it below.
For some reason, I’m reminded of Spring Training. The Cubs’ President of Baseball Operations, Jed Hoyer, knew they had a glaring hole at 3rd base. Matthew Shaw wasn’t ready, and they knew that against top-calibre pitching, his weaknesses were going to be even more glaringly evident. The Cubs went after Alex Bregman, and came up just short. Red Sox structured the deal differently, and the Cubs couldn’t match it.
Imagine if they did. This team is entirely different.
It’s nice to see so many Cub faithful break out.
Cubs have some big decisions ahead of them. What do they do about Kyle Tucker?
Compare him with Cody Bellinger who we released who’s now also a free agent.
Like I said. A lot of decisions to be made.
Hope you all have an excellent Sunday!
