Hey it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Yep. The favorite day to drink of the year. Lets get the brief history and what people screw up the most out of the way.

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated on March 17th, is a cultural and religious holiday commemorating the death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. While it is a widely recognized celebration of Irish culture, St. Patrick himself was not actually Irish, but rather a Romano-British missionary. As the legend goes, St. Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people, thus making it a significant symbol of the holiday.

The term “St. Paddy’s Day” is the correct shorthand for St. Patrick’s Day.
