Welcome to Tuesday Blogging
It’s Tuesday, and that means it’s time to dive into a new topic for this week’s blog post. But before we do that, let’s take a quick trip back in time to explore some fascinating events that have occurred on this day in history. Join me as we unravel the tales of the past and connect them to the present!
On March 5, 1770, the infamous Boston Massacre took place, where British soldiers fired into a crowd of colonists, killing five men. This incident helped further stoke anti-British sentiment among the American colonists and became a rallying cry for the revolutionary movement. Decades later, on March 5, 1933, the day after his inauguration, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave his first “fireside chat” radio address to instill confidence in the American people during the Great Depression.
In more recent history, March 5, 1953 marked the death of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. His passing ended a 29-year reign of totalitarian rule over the Soviet Union. On this day in 1982, comedian John Belushi, one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live, tragically died of a drug overdose at the age of 33. His untimely death was indicative of the drug culture that plagued the entertainment industry in that era.
Supreme Court
Anyone who listened to the Supreme Court arguments saw which way the Judges were leaning. The crux is that it’s a Federal issue, not a State one. But all of the judges, in their opinions, left open when the 14th Amendment section 3 would apply—if Congress had voted to ban him or if he were charged and convicted of insurrection—both of which didn’t happen. So, wallah, Donald Trump stays on the ballot.
I enjoyed Sydney Sweeney on SNL this last weekend. Here was another skit.
Have a good Tuesday!
