So it’s Monday. Stop me if you’ve heard this, but let’s get this ball rolling. But first, some music. It seems like a good morning for some American Hi-Fi.

Snack Shack

I love a good coming of age film. ‘Snack Shack’ was my recent favorite watch that fits this.

Two teenagers, A.J. and Moose, try to make a fortune by selling beer to their classmates, but their parents shut down their operation. So, they decide to rent a snack shack at the local pool and become entrepreneurs. Chaos ensues as they try to navigate love, friendship, and steroid-addicted bullies. Oh, and there’s a lot of angst about who gets to kiss the new girl, Brooke

I gave it 4.5 stars. Enjoyed it. Fun flick!

Deadpool vs Wolverine

It was definitely a fun movie. There were lots of witty comebacks and one-liners that you’d expect from Deadpool, and Wolverine was his usual curmudgeon self. There are so many hidden gems that you could see them a few times and probably not catch them all. My only main criticism is that when you have two characters of extreme strength like this, killing them is not even remotely possible, and why would they want to??! So it’s just two strong characters having a go at each other with nothing on the line.

An added fun element was surprise cameos from characters from the 90s (Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Wesley Snipes as Blade, including one surprise cameo from Channing Tatum, who never got the opportunity to do what the fans wanted. The fans wanted him to be Gambit, but Fox held the rights, and it never got the opportunity to be seen on the screen. Well, it did finally happen.

Below is the clip of their first meeting in the movie.

Olympics

The Olympics were so excellent to have an event where we could root for the country. Bring everyone together, even in times of war or extreme political disagreements. But lets look at the United States.

The United States had a remarkable performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, emerging as the top medal-winning country with a total of 126 medals, including 40 gold medals. This achievement marks the eighth consecutive Olympic Games where the US has topped the overall medal count. The US also tied with China for the most gold medals, with both countries securing 40 golds each.

A significant contributor to the US team’s success was its female athletes, who accounted for 67 of the country’s 126 medals. This impressive performance means that if American women were considered a separate nation, they would rank third in the overall medal standings, behind only the full US team and China. The US women’s team also secured 26 of the country’s 40 gold medals, marking the highest number of gold medals won by a women’s team in a single Olympic event.

The outstanding performance of American women at the Paris Games is attributed to the impact of Title IX, a law that mandates sports participation for all children and young adults in the US, regardless of gender. The law has enabled women and girls to participate in sports, leading to a significant increase in female representation in athletics. The success of US women at the Olympics is a testament to the progress made since the law was enacted. It highlights the immense potential that lies ahead for future generations of female athletes.

Trump – Who’s Running Things?

What’s up with him mentioning Hannibal Lecter during campaign talks? I hope he realizes that he’s fictional. Also, not to get past the fiction, he was a cannibal who ate people and was a serial killer.

First, the theme song for Titanic is played for people at a rally, and then there are constant mentions of Hannibal. Who’s running the show?!? There are lots of rumors that they want Kelly Anne Conway back. Who knows?!?

Have a good Monday!
