Yeah. It’s the month of a few friends turning sixty years old—back-to-back weekends. The first one was last weekend, and it was quite the weekend with a bunch of good people. My “drinking” skills definitely aren’t what they used to be with deciding in November to stop drinking after Thanksgiving. That lasted until Christmas Eve/Christmas, and I could noticeably feel the difference. Nerding out, I can even see the difference in the data.
Absolutely, turning sixty is a significant milestone in life for many people. It marks the beginning of a new phase, often associated with reflection, wisdom, and a sense of accomplishment. While some might choose to celebrate in grandeur, like the Queen of England, others may prefer a more intimate gathering, surrounded by close friends and loved ones. Choosing to spend time at favorite spots and enjoying the company of friends is a beautiful way to mark this special occasion. It allows for meaningful conversations, laughter, and the creation of new memories. Embracing this transition while celebrating with those who hold a special place in your heart can make turning sixty a truly momentous and joyous occasion.

While both the Golden Globes and the Oscars acknowledge remarkable performances and productions, the Oscars hold a particularly revered status due to its extensive history and the significance attached to receiving an Academy Award.
Despite the distinctions, the Golden Globes and the Oscars often serve as indicators of potential success for nominees, with winners at the Golden Globes frequently emerging as frontrunners for the Oscars, generating anticipation and speculation within the industry and among audiences alike. The close proximity of the two ceremonies within the awards season enhances the correlation between the accolades bestowed at the Golden Globes and those at the Oscars, adding an element of excitement and forecasting to the overall film and television landscape.
One of the funnier moments, and it went kinda viral was this from Jennifer Lawrence.
I still remember the fun moment with her and Jack Nickolson at the Oscars.
It was nice to see Succession (HBO TV show) get its due. The writing on it was just so good. Also, looks like Oppenheimer is the clear favorite for the Oscars.
And lastly…..
There is this new (ish) sensation of what’s called ‘YouTube Golf’ It’s some youngsters that decided to make golf content of them playing golf with buddies. There are two that I watch fairly regularly – GoodGood and Bob Does Sports. The latest ‘Bob Does Sports’ is a good watch.
