Powerbeats Pro 2 Review: Features and Performance

Good morning. It’s Thursday, February 13th, and let’s get this ball rolling. It seems like a good morning for some smooth Metallica.

The Super Bowl

Let me first start with a few things that I liked. Brad Pitt’s opening was inspiring. It gave me goosebumps. So well done! In a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of America, Brad Pitt reflected on the power of coming together.

The game itself wasn’t much of a game. I mean if you’re a fan of blowouts, it was incredible. Commercials? Eh. Some good. I had one favorite.

Trumps Bans AP

I found it interesting that the Trump White House team banned the AP News reporter. Why? Because they refuse to call the ‘Gulf of Mexico’ the ‘Gulf of America.’ This decision reflects a broader pattern of prioritizing a particular narrative over journalistic integrity, as the administration appeared more focused on reclaiming language than on addressing pressing issues. But ironically, they allowed the AP Press photographer into the press pool because Trump loves his photo taken, which raises questions about the selective treatment of media personnel based on their perceived loyalty. This situation serves as a striking example of how politics and media relations can become entangled, leading to a complicated landscape where some voices are silenced while others are amplified, solely based on their compliance with the administration’s whims.

Powerbeats Pro 2 Review

The Powerbeats Pro 2 are a significant upgrade over their predecessor, offering a sleeker design, enhanced features, and superior performance. These earbuds are particularly well-suited for fitness enthusiasts, thanks to their secure ear hooks and built-in heart rate monitoring—a first for the Powerbeats lineup. They also feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode, which are effective in blocking out ambient noise or allowing you to stay aware of your surroundings.

Key Features:

  • Battery Life: Up to 10 hours per charge, with an additional 35 hours from the case.
  • Sound Quality: Bass-driven with clear highs and rich mid-range tones, though some may find it too heavy on bass.
  • Design: Smaller and lighter than the original, with a 33% smaller charging case that supports wireless charging.
  • Price: $249.99, which is competitive but may be steep for some users.

Pros:

  • Extremely secure fit, ideal for intense workouts.
  • Effective ANC and transparency modes.
  • Heart rate monitoring is a valuable addition for fitness tracking.

Cons:

  • The charging case remains bulky.
  • Noise cancellation may not be as effective in very loud environments.
  • Price may be high for users who already have fitness trackers.

Overall, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are excellent for those seeking a reliable, fitness-focused earbud with advanced features. However, users who prioritize versatility or already own a smartwatch might find them less appealing

Lastly…

I’m back and going to try and make it a more regular thing, like a bad penny that keeps turning up. As is usually the case, I have my morning coffee, which is basically the only reason I haven’t given up on adulting yet, and look over the news like a caffeinated squirrel trying to make sense of a nut shortage. I aim to recap some of it in an interesting way, creating a patchwork narrative that hopefully doesn’t read like a fever dream. The problem is, I have a wide variety of interests that often collide like bumper cars at a kiddie fair—Technology, Golf, Movies, Television, Politics, and Photography, all vying for attention like one stripper at a bachelor party. Each subject is like a buffet of delicious stories waiting to be devoured, but I can’t seem to settle on one without feeling gluttonous. About half the time, I write up something and don’t end up hitting publish because I think it’s pure crap, battling my inner critic who very much resembles a judgmental cat. Yet, I realize that every writer faces these wacky battles, and I’m determined to soldier on, if only for the sake of my coffee supply and the occasional chuckle.
