Good morning. It’s Friday, October 3rd, and let’s get this ball rolling with some commentary. I hope you’re having a good morning, coffee like I am. DJ lets kick things off with some music and being that today is all about baseball to me it seems like a good morning for some Pearl Jam
Chicago Cubs
Baseball playoffs are in full swing—see what I did there? Swing. It’s genuinely exciting to see the Cubs make the playoffs this year. What feels even more unusual is the matchup between the Padres and the Cubs, as I’m quite familiar with both teams. The last time these two faced off in the playoffs was forty-one years ago, but honestly, that’s where the similarities end. Comparing the two series seems a bit pointless to me. So much has changed: new stadiums, Wrigley Field looks drastically different now, the uniforms and logos have evolved, and even the way baseball is played has undergone a transformation. Pitch clocks have altered the pace of the game, and hitters are now trained to focus on higher launch angles to maximize power.
Lets talk about this play that I’ve extracted out. The pitch was low, out of the strike zone, and the umpire gave it a called strike three. Below is the video.
This will be the exact type of moment where having the ABS (Automatic Balls and Strikes) system in place will be helpful. As long as you have challenges remaining, this would be the type of play that you could then have overturned.
They already met with the press in preparing for the Brewers.
Wearables
Wearables are the next big thing. Though it hasn’t been fully defined yet. What’s the most likely one to catch on? Sunglasses. The watch is already there.
Lastly….
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. Halloween is also a big part of it.
