Good morning. It’s Tuesday. Let’s get this ball rolling with some music. How about a throwback to a simpler time? Yep, the 90s alternative rock kid has music tastes all over the place.
China. China. China. They’re playing war games, practicing circling, and cutting off all access to Taiwan. You have to think it’s not a matter of if but when this happens and China engulfs the island. China is taking drastic measures and has given itself the capability of cutting the sea internet cables that run to the island. This would be one of the first signs of the invasion. What would be a key to surviving this measure? Satellite internet. Enter Elon Musk’s company Skylink. Already satellites in space. They could be the solution Taiwan is looking for for its survival. But it won’t happen because Elon wants favorable trade/build prices for his cars in China.
I’m unsure if we’re prepared for the war and the scale this would be.
I’m reading a good book about this very subject.
Friendships
Male friendships are weird. Female ones, I can’t even begin to understand. I’ve had friends who have been cancelled to go and do something “more exciting,” and other friends who have had people just cancel at the last minute.
Experiencing disappointment when friends let you down can be hurtful, as it shakes the foundation of trust and loyalty that friendships are built upon. However, this disappointment can also serve as a valuable revelation, unmasking the true nature of those around us. When friends fail to meet our expectations, they inadvertently expose their genuine character and intentions, providing us with clarity and insight. This newfound understanding, although painful, allows us to make more informed decisions about who we choose to keep close. Ultimately, it helps us cultivate more authentic and meaningful relationships with those who genuinely care and support us.
I spent the opening paragraph above discussing men vs. women, making a tongue-in-cheek remark. There is a good long-form interview with Steve Stewart-Williams on the big differences and why we’re denying those differences.
Moving onto something a bit funny….
One of my big pet peeves is people who listen to YouTube or music and play it on the speaker setting for all to hear in public environments. How self-centered do you have to be to think,”Oh well, everyone should enjoy this also.” One of my favorite comedians Steve Hofstetter, one of my fellow gingers, had a good bit about this. Below clip is NSFW – but very good.
Lastly….
John Stewart’s interview with former Republican Congressman Ken Buck. It’s decent.
